Middle School
Students are thoroughly prepared for high school in our middle school classes - with a deep focus on rigor, complex texts, and inquiry-based learning, students are supported as they develop.
English Language Arts:
Our Middle School English Language Arts program uses Wit & Wisdom by Great Minds, a rigorous, knowledge-rich curriculum that integrates reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking. Built on the research that background knowledge strengthens reading comprehension, the curriculum uses engaging novels, informational texts, and primary sources to deepen learning.
Each grade explores meaningful themes through essential questions and rich literature. Sixth grade focuses on resilience with Bud, Not Buddy and Out of the Dust. Seventh grade examines World War II through Farewell to Manzanar and Code Talker. Eighth grade studies leadership and social change with Claudette Colvin: Twice Toward Justice.
Students read and write daily, analyze complex texts, support ideas with evidence, and communicate confidently through discussion and writing. Our program equips students with the literacy and critical thinking skills they need to succeed in high school and beyond.

Science:
Our middle school science program uses Amplify Science, a phenomena-based curriculum that engages students in the authentic work of scientists and engineers. Through real-world investigations, students ask questions, gather evidence, test ideas, and apply their learning to new situations.
Using an interactive Do-Talk-Read-Write approach, students explore scientific concepts through hands-on investigations, collaboration, discussion, reading, and writing.
Aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), the program helps students connect scientific knowledge with inquiry and critical thinking, preparing them to solve real-world problems and better understand the world around them.
Math:
Our middle school mathematics program uses Eureka Math Squared, a research-based curriculum that helps students build a deep understanding of mathematical concepts through problem-solving, reasoning, and real-world application. The curriculum is carefully sequenced to strengthen conceptual understanding while preparing students for higher-level mathematics.
To meet the needs of all learners, we offer accelerated and advanced pathways based on assessment data, teacher recommendations, and administrative review.

Spanish
Students continue to build upon the foundation of Spanish language skills developed in the elementary program. Through Spanish instruction three times a week, students deepen their understanding of vocabulary, grammar, and language conventions while strengthening their ability to communicate through speaking, writing, listening, and reading.
As students grow in their confidence and proficiency, they apply their learning through meaningful conversations and real-world language experiences. This course provides students with the skills and preparation needed for success in Spanish I at the high school level.
Social Studies
In middle school, students deepen their understanding of history, geography, culture, and government through TCI’s engaging, inquiry-based curriculum. Using primary sources, hands-on activities, discussions, and critical thinking, students explore major civilizations, historical events, and the people who shaped our world.

6th Grade: Ancient civilizations, including Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, India, and China.

7th Grade: The medieval world and the civilizations that emerged after the fall of the Roman Empire.

8th Grade: United States history from early exploration and settlement through the Industrial Revolution, with an emphasis on the nation's founding, key events, and diverse perspectives.
Through each grade level, students develop historical thinking skills, analyze the past, and make meaningful connections to the world around them.
Faith & Values
Through the Blest Are We curriculum, students engage in faith-based learning centered on Catholic values, community, and living out their faith through everyday actions. Guided by teachers who model and share their own faith, students explore virtues and reflect on how they can embody our Student Learning Expectations in their relationships, choices, and daily lives.
As students deepen their understanding of Catholic teachings and the Catechism, they continue to grow in their relationship with Christ through daily prayer, weekly Mass, service opportunities, and meaningful faith experiences that connect classroom learning to their lives. Through both instruction and example, our teachers help students recognize that faith is not only something they learn, but something they are called to live.
Social-Emotional Learning & Character Development
Social-emotional learning is intentionally woven into each school day through our use of Character Strong curriculum and our daily Morning Meeting routine, guided by the Responsive Classroom technique. Students develop skills such as kindness, empathy, responsibility, and resilience while building strong relationships with peers and teachers. Morning Meeting creates a welcoming start to the day, giving students a safe space to connect, share, and set positive intentions. Together, these practices help students grow in character, confidence, and community.
Physical Education:
Middle school students participate in Physical Education twice a week, providing opportunities to stay active, develop physical skills, and build healthy habits. Each class incorporates warm-ups, cool-downs, and a variety of group activities designed to promote movement, teamwork, and positive social interaction.
Students develop and apply fundamental movement skills, including locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative skills, through a variety of individual and team-based activities. Beyond physical development, students learn the importance of sportsmanship by respecting officials, accepting outcomes with grace, encouraging their peers, and working cooperatively toward shared goals.
Through Physical Education, students strengthen coordination, confidence, collaboration, and lifelong habits that support overall wellness.
