Marty Chargin

Principal

Mr. Chargin’s parents were natives to Santa Clara County, and always placed a high priority on education. He was born and raised in the South Bay. Mr. Chargin attended St. Joseph of Cupertino School and graduated from Monta Vista High School in 1976. He went on to earn a degree in social studies from San Jose State University. Mr. Chargin later earned a Teaching Credential, Administrative Credential and a Master’s Degree from National University in San Jose, California.

His love for sports led him to coach varsity women’s softball at Archbishop Mitty High School for 10 seasons. In 1998, Fr. Jim convinced Mr. Chargin to leave Mitty and pursue a teaching career at Queen of Apostles. Mr. Chargin thoroughly enjoyed those years as a teacher, and appreciated working with many wonderful colleagues who share his Catholic values. More importantly, Mr. Chargin took great pleasure in working with students, knowing that educators make a tremendous contribution to the community. When the former principal (Mrs. Marianna Willis), retired Mr. Chargin’s ministry continued in an administrative role. It was difficult to leave the classroom, as a principal’s relationship with students is different than that of a teacher.

Mr. Chargin was introduced as principal of Queen of Apostles School in March of 2004 and has enjoyed the privilege of leading this fine school since then. He considers himself blessed to work with the excellent faculty and staff at Queen of Apostles School. There have been many great rewards of being principal; most notably, an outstanding report from the visiting WASC Committee in the spring of 2006. The school has received a maximum six year accreditation. Mr. Chargin thinks that together we will celebrate our accomplishments, and embrace any challenges, as we work towards a greater future for Queen of Apostles School.

Marijane Lovell

Vice-Principal & Religion Coordinator

Mrs. Marijane Lovell is proud that she has been part of the Queen of Apostles School faculty since 1979. She assumed some vice principal duties in 1999; then, in 2003, she became full time vice principal, religion coordinator, and eighth grade religion teacher.

Mrs. Lovell is committed to Catholic education, having attended Catholic elementary school and high school in San Francisco. She is a cum laude graduate of Holy Name University where she majored in history, minored in English, and earned a California teaching credential.

Facilitating the best possible education for our children has always been her foremost goal. She has a very real sense of the “history” of Queen of Apostles School and is enthusiastic about the growth of which she has been a part. Working with students, parents, administration and staff who are so dedicated is an honor.

Teaching eighth grade religion provides Mrs. Lovell with the opportunity to share her faith with adolescents, and to have a role in preparing them for high school. She genuinely enjoys the time spent with the eighth grade.

Mrs. Lovell’s duties as vice principal allow her to support and guide Queen of Apostles School in its continued quest for excellence. She is especially proud of the full six-year accreditation the school received as a result of its 2006 WASC Self-Study.

Stella Guel

Stella Guel

Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Stella Guel was born and raised in San Jose where she currently resides today. She’s been happily married for 38 years and has 3 children and 10 grandchildren. While her children were young Mrs. Guel ran a neighborhood day care out of her home so she could not only care for her children but so she could also be more involved with the neighborhood children and community.

After 6 years of running her day care, she decided to look for a new challenge and go work with adults in the corporate world full time. After many years in the corporate world Mrs. Guel found a new opportunity where she could have the best of both worlds. In 2007 Mrs. Guel became the Administrative Assistant for Queen of Apostles School.

Mrs. Guel feels very blessed to be involved again with children as well as the wonderful families she interacts with. The children are very important to her and she feels as her grandchildren have expanded from 10 to all the children of Queen of Apostles School.
